The RA Long High School Science Olympiad teams were recently featured in The Daily New. The article discussed the two RAL teams preparing for the Regional Science Olympiad at Lower Columbia College. The event will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012.
RA Long and Mark Morris high schools have both recently installed camera systems to monitor activity in and around the school. The Daily News recently featured the cameras at RAL. RAL Principal Rich Reeves is shown operating the resolution system. The article states that the cameras were largely paid for by Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant secured with the assistance of US Senator Patty Murray.
The 2012 R.A. Long High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Friday, March 16. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM and will be in the R.A. Long Auditorium.

The nominating period for the 2013 Hall of Fame is open until April 30, 2012. The Hall of Fame Committee is particularly interested in nominations for outstanding female athletes and non-athletic Lifetime Achievements.
The R.A.Long High School Alumni Association Annual Meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25th at R.A. Long High School. We will meet in Room 115 (downstairs near the door to the science wing). This meeting is open to anyone who attended R.A. Long High School or anyone who embraces the goals of this association.
R.A. Long High School and Mark Morris High School have harmonized their senior project programs. The Daily News has an excellent front page article summarizing the changes to the senior projects.
We learned today that Del McGhee passed away August 19, 2011 (The Daily News obiturary). McGhee was a long-time teacher and coach at both Monticello and R.A. Long.
We recently learned that RAL alumnus Paul Laufman ('56) delivered a graduate seminar lecture at Washington State University (WSU) on Thursday, December 2, 2010. Laufman's lecture was entitled "Rocket Propulsion: Space Policy and its Entrepreneurial Impact." Laufman helped found United Paradyne Corporation (UPC) in 1995 and retired as Chairman/CEO in 2004.
